Goodtime Mama Jojo
Showgirl, striptease artist, burlesque performer, entrepreneur, mentor, confidence-coach, motivational speaker, host, choreographer, performance-art teacher, single parent, ballsy biatch, and British Burlesque Legends (Yes, honestly!).

In June of 2009, Mama Jojo was invited to perform at the world famous Burlesque Hall of Fame’s 52nd Annual reunion Showcase in las Vegas where she was celebrated as a burlesque legend. She was the first British performer to be awarded this recognition which was a great honour and a huge career highlight.

Her varied and exciting career as a burlesque striptease artist began in London’s infamous West End cabaret clubs in the 1970s. She went on to work all over the UK, Germany, and Spain in pubs, clubs, and theatres for the leading agents, and for private and corporate clients. To enhance her performances, Mama studied acting, comedy improvisation, and contemporary dance.

In 2000, realising the therapeutic benefits of her craft, she founded the very first school in Europe to teach the art of the striptease, burlesque dance, and pole-dancing. Her self-imposed mission was, and still is, to help people to feel fabulous regardless of age, shape, size or ability. Her vision and hard work has indisputably played a huge part in the acceptance of burlesque, striptease, and pole-dancing as recognised art-forms in the UK today.

Her work has inspired, and empowerd thousands of people both in Europe and world-wide. She has choreographed performances for hundreds of professional performers (past and present) including: International Showgirl – Immodesty Blaize, Miss Polly Rae, Bettsie Bon Bon, Legs Malone, Sapphira, and countless others.

Mama has appeared in films and numerous television documentaries. She has taught many celebrities and actresses including: TV presenter and writer Dawn O’Porter, millionaire property developer Linda Ashley, and former super-model Agyness Deyn.

It is Mama Jojo’s all-inclusive ethos and can-do attitude that enables her to work with everybody. In 2006, and again in 2008, she designed and tailored unique courses for three wheelchair-bound actresses (one of whom is the much-loved “Silent Witness” actress Liz Carr). In 2012, she was hired to teach and choregraph the blind and partially-sighted cast of Extant’s challenging production “Sheer”. She also taught and choregraphed a group of men with a variety of disabilities for the award-winning documentary “The Crippendales”. She considers these pieces of work among her greatest achievements.

n 2011, by combining her experience in both performance art and personal development, Mama JoJo created Kingesis (c), an inspirational concept where participants learn how to value and appreciate their own body through a variety of movements and liberating verbal exercises all designed to improve and enhance self-confidence.

Mama Jojo often gives seminars on burlesque’s ability to heal traumas, conquer negativity, encourage self-acceptance, and create self-orth. She has spoken and taught for the following companies: The Women’s Institute, International Workshop Festival, Coco de Mer, The Royal Shakespeare Company, Athena Network, Royal Festival Hall, the London School of Economics, and many more.

She is a woman who is unreservedly passionate about her work. The keys to Goodtime Mama Jojo’s success are her infectious enthusiasm, her no-nonsense approach, and her unique ability to convey her burlesque-infused joy of being!
