BURLESQUE HALL OF FAME WEEKENDER RETURNS AS GLOBAL VIRTUAL EVENT
Performers and producers around the world will be featured in 48-hour long burlesque marathon
July 14, 2021 – LAS VEGAS – For the second year in a row, the Burlesque Hall of Fame will host a massive online burlesque event featuring performers from around the world. The Virtual Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekender (“VHoF”) will be a 48-hour, continuously streaming virtual fundraiser held August 6-8 and showcasing the best-in-class of burlesque.
In addition to showcases produced by the museum’s own production team, the event will feature productions curated by guest producers from across the United States and from countries around the globe including Australia, Italy, and the UK. This will be a unique opportunity to “tour” the best of global burlesque in two days! Proceeds from the event will benefit the Burlesque Hall of Fame, a 501(c)3 non-profit museum committed to preserving, sharing, celebrating, and inspiring the art of burlesque.
“The last year without in-person events has pushed us to ask a lot of questions about our art form,” said executive producer Joyce Tang, “What is burlesque without a live audience? How have we kept this artform alive without a stage? We are not only answering these questions with a crash course in burlesque in the form of a 48-hour mega-collaboration of global productions, but by making this a free and accessible livestream, we are also placing a welcome mat for new audiences to join us in celebrating burlesque. Hopefully, when things re-open, these new audiences will support their local live entertainment communities after getting a taste from our livestream.”
The event replaces the museum’s traditional 4-day festival held in Las Vegas the first weekend in June. With travel restrictions still in place for many countries and uncertainty in planning due to the pandemic, the Burlesque Hall of Fame has chosen to host a virtual event for the second year running, allowing performers and fans from anywhere on Earth to participate.
The event will be streamed live through the Weekender website at BHoFWeekend.com and will run continuously from 12:00pm on August 6 through 1:00pm August 8, Pacific Time. Admission for the event will be free, with viewers encouraged to donate to support the museum. In addition to recorded showcases and live streamed performances, the event will include panel presentations, interviews, and other fun short presentations like costuming tips from the stars of the burlesque world.
