Rubberlegs started performing in the early ’60s as a comic dancer and opening act for rock-n-roll shows. In 1969, he was invited to Nixon’s inaugural ball. He was in company with Lyle Hampton, Doc Severson, Dinah Shore, and Buddy Epson. James Brown even kissed him in a moment of excitement after running offstage. From 1978 to 1984, he owned his burlesque show, traveling around to state fairs.
